Book Description:The beginning of the end. The Apocalypse.

A nuclear fallout wiped out every living thing on the planet, except for a few thousand of us who took shelter in underground bunkers across the globe. Now, after thirteen long years, we were finally able to return to the topside to begin to rebuild.

We thought we were alone. We were never more wrong.

Before the fallout, scientists had worked on creating an anti-radiation vaccine (ARV). The first two attempts failed, but despite the incomplete tests and results, the government approved and distributed the third serum to the masses in an effort to aid those who had no shelter.

It worked, keeping those who remained on the topside alive, but it also altered and mutated them. This new and infectious threat had completely outnumbered us. Now, we not only had to rebuild our planet. We would have to fight for it.

My name is Abigail Park. I’m seventeen, and this is my story.

My Description:
Abigail Park lives in a bunker underground which they call a hive with her family and friends because everything above them is completly destroy. They live there for thirtheen years and then they were suppose to go back to the surface to rebuild and bring life back. When they are about to go back to the surface they learned that a great danger is waiting for them.

Before the fallout, the government, knowing they wouldn't be able to save everybody, created a vaccine to help the ones who would stay to survive to radiations. Unfortunately, because they didn't have enough time to test the vaccine, they couldn't predict what would happen. The vaccine did help them to survive but it also transforms them into something not human anymore. They have now become creatures that only want one thing, flesh.

Abigail's father which is the leader of the hive, decides that it's time for them to leave and find the safety zone. They will have to fight these creatures to get there. They have all been trained to fight against human but not necessarily against beasts. Will they be able to survive without any lost? One thing is sure, they can always count on one and the other.

If they get to the safety zone, what will they find?

My Opinion:
First of all, a huge thank to the fabulous Cameo Renae for allowing me to read her book. This story was soo good. It feels great to read something different and the last dystopian reading I made was the Hunger games series so it's a long time ago. I couldn't put it down, I had only 30% read and then I finished it in one day because I wanted to know what would happen to the characters.

I fell in love with the characters which are fantastics and the interactions between them is lovely. The story between Abigail and Finn is more than lovely. If one day, I have to face that kind of situation, I would like to be with a group like that.

Now, I can't wait for book two. I want to see what's next. Will they be able to find an antidote for the arvies? Or will they be able to protect them against the bites? I have so many questions.

I definitively recommend that book!!! And for French peoples, this is an easy reading for a first language French so don't hesitate!! And for the others, we never know, maybe one day it will be translated.

The Characters:
Abigail Park: Abigail was only 4 years old when she enters the hive. She lives there with her parents. She grew up there and learned everything she needs to defend herself and her loves one. She is the best shooter from the hive.

Finn Armstrong: Abigail's best friend. Growing older, they both find new feelings for one and the other.

Also living in the hive: Abigail's parents, Uncle Frank, aunt Sandy and cousin Lily, Anya (Finn's mother), Dr. Jay and Dr. Lisa Banks, Tom Hatch, his wife Wei (botanists)  and their son Charlie and finally Bill and Lorraine Park, Abigail's grandparents.

The Author:
Cameo Renae was born in San Francisco, CA, raised in Maui, Hawaii, and recently moved with her husband and children to Alaska.

She loved reading from as long as she can remember, and it was C.S. Lewis' - Chronicles of Narnia – which sparked a fire in her soul and made her want to create her own wondrous, magical worlds and characters to go on adventures with.

Her published books are In My Dreams (A YA Paranormal Romance Thriller), Hidden Wings (Book  #1 in the HW Series), Descent (A HW Series Novella) and Broken Wings (Book #2 in HW Series).

One day she hopes to find her own magic wardrobe, and ride away on her magical unicorn... until then... she'll keep writing!
