Book Information: Meant for Me by L.P. Dover (A Second Chances Stand Alone) Release Date: December 30th 2013 Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance Synopsis: After a night of raw passion with the man Claire O’Briene had been secretly admiring for years, she thought their time together had come once and for all. Fate had finally brought them back to each other, but unfortunately nothing had changed. He was still the same man who ran away from relationships. Against his better judgment, Mason Bradley gave in to the temptation and allowed himself one night with the one woman he’d been too afraid to want … too afraid to need. Six months after leaving Claire and regretting every minute of it, Mason gets called in for an undercover mission that’s not only dangerous, but brings back a past he spent years trying to forget. A past of fighting … of getting in the ring and using his fists to get what he wanted: money, women, and drugs. Now there are fighters turning up dead, and it’s Mason’s job to find out the truth. Knowing he might not come out of the mission alive, Mason seeks out Claire to tell her how he truly feels, only to find another man competing for her love as well. Fighting is what he’s good at, and for once he will be fighting not only for justice … but for love. Excerpt: Chapter Four Mason I didn’t realize how much she despised me until the moment I stepped into the doorway and Claire saw me, and I saw the outright venom in her eyes. From that look alone I knew she wouldn’t take me back, but it wasn’t going to stop me from trying. I came here for a reason and I’m not leaving until I do what I told myself I was going to do. I was going to put everything on the line. As I watched Claire turn her back on me and walk away, I had the deepest urge to handcuff her to a chair and make her listen to me. However, forcing her would only push her away even more. When I handcuffed her to anything it would be out of mere pleasure, not anger. I was determined to get her back. Rushing out of the house, I grabbed Claire’s arm before she could go any further and turned her to face me. “Let me go, Mason,” she ordered through clenched teeth. Her body was coiled tighter than a snake, but when I grabbed her other arm and pulled her closer, I could feel the tension in her muscles loosen and she noticed it, too. I wanted to kiss those lips of hers that tasted sweet like honey with the hint of raspberries, and feel her bare skin on my fingers. Seeing her now only reminded me of how stupid I had been to let her go, and now it was too late. Or was it? “Please give me this chance, Claire,” I murmured in her ear. “There are so many things I need to tell you. I know you’ve moved on to someone else, and it’s kind of obvious with his name plastered all over your body, but I can’t leave here without telling you how I feel.” I paused and took a deep breath. “I’ve missed you, Claire. I missed you the moment you drove away from me at the airport four months ago.” “Why are you doing this now?” she asked incredulously, pulling her arms out of my grasp and crossing them over her chest. She stepped back, one small step after another, and the further she moved away the further I could feel her slipping away. A tear slid down her cheek and she wiped it away, whispering, “Things are finally going good for me, Mason. I can’t have you screwing that up.” Nodding, I lowered my head and blew out a shaky breath. “I understand, and if you’re truly happy then what I have to tell you won’t matter at all. I have to get this out or I may never get the chance again. Claire, I …” Unfortunately, that was as far as I’d gotten before the sound of Cooper’s truck coming down the long driveway stopped me. Are you fucking kidding me? When am I ever going to catch a break? It was perfect timing on his part, but terrible for mine. Skeptically, he glanced from me to Claire and then settled his gaze on me with a scowl on his face. It was obvious he knew who I was, and if not it was obvious he didn’t care for me. Claire glanced nervously behind her, and I knew my moment to tell her how I felt was lost. Would I get a chance to before I left? I had no clue, but I had to try. Before Cooper could get out of his truck, I stepped closer to Claire and let her see the seriousness in my eyes. “Meet me tonight,” I muttered quickly. “You know where.” Past her shoulder I could see Cooper approaching, but she kept her glistening blue eyes my way. If she didn’t agree to meet me tonight there was still the possibility I’d never see her again. Any time I went undercover was dangerous and I always had to accept the probability that it could be the last mission I ever went on. It was the way it worked. “I’m sorry, Mason, but I can’t. I can’t risk everything just because you show up on my doorstep. If you want my trust or my heart you need to fight for it … you need to earn it. Until you’re willing to do that I don’t want to see you again,” she uttered boldly. Cooper finally made it to us and put his arm around Claire’s shoulders, pulling her into his side. “Everything okay?” he asked, gazing down at her before turning a lethal glare my way. Claire wrapped her arms around his waist and nodded, smiling up at him. “Yes, everything’s fine.” Her smile disappeared when she glanced back at me. “I was just telling Mason good-bye.” With those last words she turned her back on me for the second time today while Cooper stayed behind. We both watched her climb into his truck and shut the door, keeping her gaze on anything but us. “What are you doing here?” Cooper asked angrily, crossing his arms over his chest. He was a couple of inches taller than me, but height never mattered anyway. We were almost identical as far as body size, but I knew without a doubt I could take him in a fight. “Not that it’s any of your business,” I replied with a sly grin on my face, “but if you must know I came to visit my cousin.” Cooper scoffed. “Well, whatever the reasons are you better stay away from Claire. I know who you are and what you did to her. However, I guess I should be happy that you were such an idiot because now I have her and you don’t. So thank you for that.” “I don’t think you’ll be thanking me when I get her back,” I warned with a smirk on my face. “I let her go once, but it was a mistake I’ll never make again. I’ll fight for her no matter what it takes. You can count on that.” I was determined to get her back and of that I was certain. Author Bio: I am an avid reader that loves my collection of books. Please let this be a dream. A nightmare. Please let me wake up and find myself in my own bed. Things like this didn’t happen, not to her. Not to her brother! Certainly not in America. Her family didn’t have money, so she knew this wasn’t about ransom. Without moving she scanned the room trying to gain her bearings. She was curled up on the floor in the corner of a small room, that much was obvious. Her body ached. She tried to straighten her legs out but they remained bent. She couldn’t even push herself up to sitting. The walls were white and metal filing cabinets lined the walls. A large wooden desk sat off to the left with a computer. No windows. No pictures or paintings on the wall. Nothing personal whatsoever. Her eyes continued to dart around the room, finally settling on the men. They were large, wore dark suits and looked scary. One was tall with a hook nose and curly blond hair, the other was short but muscular with a bald head. They were not the same men from the car. Desperately she tried to fight the panic that rose in her chest once she realized her brother was not in the room with them. Where was he? At least she knew he was alive from their comments. Too young? For what? So many questions and no answers. Maybe if she could figure out where they were they could escape. Genre: NA Paranormal Romance/ Urban Fantasy Publisher: Collective Presse/ Writer’s Bloq Inc Format: eBook Release Date: December 10 2013 Blurb Archangels are extinct and the world is now inhabited by a half-human/half-angel race called Nephilim. But it’s been told that one Archangel remains – a child born of fire only known as The Legend. 21-year-old Nephilim Scarlett Porter is about to start her Angel training at the infamous Blackbell Academy, so she doesn’t have time to worry about dreams of mysterious dark angels. The last thing she expected was her dream angel to be Dyston Blackbell or that finding her was part of his mission – a mission Dyston is prepared to fail to keep Scarlett and the secret of who she is safe. But, danger is closer to Dyston and Scarlett than they realize. War is brewing, led by a group of Nephilim called The Lucifites, and they need The Legend to carry out their plans. With the help of their friends, the two must find the leader of the Lucifites and stop his plans for destruction. But will Dyston and Scarlett’s love survive what’s coming? How far will Scarlett go to save those she cares about the most? My Description: Scarlett Porter is new at Blackbell Academy. She was automatically admitted because she is a Legacy meaning that she is kind of VIP because her parents attended that school before. Being a Legacy also means privilege but she didn't want anybody to know because she didn't want to stand out among the others. As soon as she meets with Dyston Blackbell she feels like she already know him. He is an awesome guy and especially the one she has been dreaming about since a long time. Dyston told her that she was his mission. He had to find the Legend, the daugther of an Archangel and she is the one. He needs to protect her because great danger awaits her. Together and with the help of their friends, they will have to fight against the ones who need her to begin a war. Will they be able to say their world? Does love will succeed? My Opinion: Another very good reading. I am so happy and grateful that I won that book thank you to L.L. Hunter about that. That was my first book that I read about angels and I really enjoy it. I really like the characters, especially the lovely Dyston. I am still not sure about his brother Lakyn, I will have to read the next book to get to see what will happen with him. Can't wait to see what's next. I recommend that book without hesitation!! Add to your Goodreads shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18520596-fire-and-ice Author Bio: L.L. Author Bio I can't remember a time when I didn't want to write. From the time I was learned enough to string sentences together I liked writing stories. In high school I was the literary editor of our school magazine Sketches and had a series of short stories that I'd written even then. I'm published with two wonderful publishers, World Castle and Solstice Publishing, and on my own as an Indie. I live in Florida with my two adult children and my husband of 30+ years. I have a wonderful dog named Snickers that can even open her own Christmas presents! (don't believe me? Look below) When I'm not working full time in the insurance industry, I write. I believe any writer should write because they love the craft. The rest will come in time. I hope you enjoy reading my stories as much as I've enjoyed writing them. Links website Facebook Twitter Buy Links Smashwords Buy Link Excerpt - When Mabe meets Aaron Shaw for the first time The door to the pub swung open for a tall, ebony haired man wearing an expensive tan suit. Mabe straightened. Riveted, she stared at his strikingly angular face. His chin, grooved by a slight dimple, struck her as sexy. His gaze roamed the bar, settling on her. Warmth radiated through her entire body. Never had she felt such an intense attraction to a man. Who the hell is he? She didnât recall ever seeing him in the pub. Her nerves tingled. Resembling a panther, he wove his way through the crowd. Slightly ashamed of her attraction to a strange man at her fatherâs wake, she turned her back, resuming her position behind the bar. She spoke to several patrons, mentally noting their drink orders on her way. âNo one could pull a pint like your da,â an old grizzled man at the end of the mahogany counter stated. âSmooth like silk he was.â Mabe smiled. âHe was, Angus. Weâll miss him.â She handed a frothy mug to the man. âHere you go. Enjoy that.â âI will,â Angus declared, raising his glass to her. âTo many years.â She picked up a glass of Coke, clinked it against Angusâs mug. âAnd to you.â âIâll have one of those if you donât mind,â a deep voice spoke from behind her. Turning, ready with a flirty response on her tongue, she came face to face with her handsome stranger. His eyes matched the deep rich mahogany of the bar. His smile, while slightly crooked, seemed genuine and swept the words right out of her brain. âUhâ¦sure. Name your poison.â âGuinness?â Mabe nodded, pulled the beer, scraping the foam from the top. âIâve never seen you here before. Whatâs your name, and how did you know my dad?â His gaze caught hers, sympathy reflected in his eyes. She tried to look away, but she couldnât. The man was a god. âIâm sorry for your loss.â âThanks. He will be missed for sure.â âI just realizedâ¦this is his wake, isnât it? A private party?â She nodded. âIt is.â The man smiled gently. âIâm sorry. Iâm afraid Iâm intruding. I should go.â She set the beer in front of him. âNah, weâre all friends here. It is a private party, but stay if youâd like.â She gestured. âThose are my sisters Meg and Mara. We own the place now.â âItâll be hard to run it without your father, wonât it?â Mabe sighed, leaning on her elbows. âIt wonât be the same, for sure, but weâll do okay. Itâll take some workâ¦.â She glanced lovingly around the pub with all its Irish paraphernalia adorning he walls. âDa, loved this place. I grew up here. Itâs our place. Weâll make it work.â She shivered, feeling his intense stare. Her skin burned under the laser scan of his eyes. Her pulse jumped. If the room were empty except for the two of them, heâd be in some serious trouble. He took a sip of the Guinness, still staring at her over the mug. She licked her lips then broke the gaze. She swiped at the glossy mahogany top with a rag. âWhat brings you to town?â âBusiness,â was his response. âOoh, cryptic, are we?â She flirted. âSuits me for now.â A man at the end of the counter signaled for her. She held up a finger then approached her guest. She served a few more beers, all the while being extremely aware of his gaze. His allure was more powerful than any sheâd ever experienced. Monticello wasnât full of dashing men in expensive suits, but it had its fair share of good lookers. Lord knew sheâd flirted with some from time to time, even dated a few, but none of them stirred in her what this man did. No longer needed, she returned to him, eyeing his empty mug. âAnother?â He nodded, offered her a smile. Her knees weakened. She steadied herself by grasping the smooth wood. What the hell is wrong with me? She pulled his beer, but before she handed it to him she asked, âWhat did you say your name was?â He chuckled. âI didnât.â She set the mug down in front of him. âOh, come on. Youâre not going to waltz into my pub during my daddyâs wake and not tell me who you are. Itâs not polite.â One dark eyebrow rose. âNot polite, huh?â âNot at all,â she declared, leaning on the bar, offering him her most dazzling smile. âOkay thenâ¦if you insist. âI do.â He held out his hand. Mabe reached out, taking his warm palm in hers. The air between them practically crackled with tension. âAaron Shaw.â Her previously heated blood froze. In one swift moment, all the allure sheâd experienced earlier evaporated. This is the shark trying to buy my pub. The nerve of this man, waltzing in here, flirting with me, when all the while heâs casing the joint for a future purchase. She grabbed his beer unceremoniously dumping it on his head. The dark brew dripped from his hair all over his tan suit. âWhat the hell?â he shouted, jumping off the stool. âGet out of my pub,â she yelled at him. “These graphics suck,” George says and I look back at the screen. We’re standing in the middle of the Estate, colorful orbs quivering ahead of us. We each have to choose our starting advantage. Waterfalls shimmer in the distance and the sunlight streams over multicolored stones in the courtyard. “Amateurs,” Lanyon concurs. “I mean, they couldn’t have five waterfalls?” “Your ironic wit is mind blowing, but choose your damn orbs,” I tell them. I consider. Magic, defense, offense, stealth, and charisma. I always go for magic as a black mage, but I wonder if a druid needs something else. Screw it. I need charisma in real life, too. “Charisma?” Lanyon asks. “No one ever picks charisma.” “We’re a party of a thief, druid, and a bard. We’re screwed regardless.” “You two underestimate the mighty power of my lute,” George argues. “Did you start with charisma?” Lanyon asks. “Hell, no. I have charisma in spades. I started with stealth.” “Great. A stealthy bard,” I sigh. “She’s right,” Lanyon concedes. “We’re screwed.” However, it actually isn’t bad at all at first. We power through the Estate and make it to the Yobanaria Dale with no resurrections and all at level ten. I’m impressed. George hasn’t actually fought anything, but he has some pretty awe-inspiring charm mastery already. I think I might have a serious crush. He seals the deal when he buffs my hailstorm spell without even being asked. “Can you guys watch El Thiefelo? My mom wants me to eat supper,” Lanyon says. “Yeah, we’ve got it,” I tell him. “The first boss is in the elven ruins anyway, so we should grind a bit. I think he’s a twelve.” George and I explore the Dale, taking out bats and Joba spores. It’s fairly quiet, except for when we combo with his charms and my spells and he yells out, “Eat lute, bitch,” but it’s nice. We work well, almost inherently understanding each other. I’ve never been able to play this effectively with anyone. I try not to think about his eyes. Stupid boys, being cute and stuff. By the time Lanyon comes back, we’re all at level 12, although Lanyon leveled up just by standing by a door while we played. Still, we are ready to take on Balsa the Proud. As a black mage, it took me about nine seconds. Trees don’t like fire. However, druids don’t have the same level of black magic and all elemental magic is weakened by the need to draw from the elements nearby. Sadly, trees seem to avoid storing fire runes in their villages. I expect this to be a little more challenging. It might even take fifteen seconds. “First boss. Also known as the freebie bitch to sucker the young folks into a false sense of security,” Lanyon announces as he runs into the center of Balsa’s lair. The cinema plays and then, in a moment of pure absurdity, El Thiefelo is squished as Balsa steps on him. “Can someone revive me?” Lanyon whines. About the Authors: Sarah Daltry: Sarah Daltry writes about the regular people who populate our lives. She's written works in various genres - romance, erotica, fantasy, horror. Genre isn't as important as telling a story about people and how their lives unfold. Sarah tends to focus on YA/NA characters but she's been known to shake it up. Most of her stories are about relationships - romantic, familial, friendly - because love and empathy are the foundation of life. It doesn't matter if the story is set in contemporary NY, historical Britain, or a fantasy world in the future - human beings are most interesting in the ways they interact with others. This is the principle behind all of Sarah's stories. Sarah has spent most of her life in school, from her BA and MA in English and writing to teaching both at the high school and college level. She also loves studying art history and really anything because learning is fun. When Sarah isn't writing, she tends to waste a lot of time checking Facebook for pictures of cats, shooting virtual zombies, and simply staring out the window. She has written several books, most notably Bitter Fruits, an urban fantasy in the Eden’s Fall series, and the Flowering series, including Forget Me Not, Lily of the Valley, and Star of Bethlehem. Pete Clark: Pete Clark likes writing, animals, potato chips, and cheese. Midnight Riders is his first published novel, although he can also proudly say he finally finished Helix Crashing, the fantasy novel he has been working on for over a decade. Will his faith in her be enough to save her? Or, will she become the monster she fears she already is? Excerpt: I scooted up the bed and rested my back against the headboard before I pulled her closer to me, letting her lay her head in my lap. My right arm lightly ran up and down her back, while the left ran through her silky tresses. “It will be alright Kitten. We’ll get through this. I promise.” And we would. No matter what I had to do to make that happen. “You called me ‘Kitten’.” She said almost surprised. I arched a brow in her direction. “I always call you ‘Kitten’.” I felt her shake her head on my lap. “You didn’t call me that when you left before. You called me Katalina. I thought you were mad at me.” I stopped stroking her hair and lifted her chin to make her look at me. I was propped up too much and she had to shift herself to reach my eye level with a hand placed delicately on my shoulder. “Never think I’m mad at you. You haven’t done anything, willingly, to make me mad at you.” She looked at me curiously and asked. “You mean it?” I gave her my crooked smirk. “Of course I mean it.” She smiled at me then and I really couldn’t resist. My left hand remained under her chin for the time being and I leaned forward and let my lips find hers. She took a sharp intake of breath before her eyes slid shut and she returned the kiss the almost shyly. Katalina was such a paradigm to me. I knew I would never figure her out, just like I knew, I could never be without her. She was who my heart and soul belonged to. ![]() Author Bio: S.Cu'Anam Policar was born in Brooklyn, NY, but now lives in Washington State. We drove another twenty minutes north as I moved off the dirt road and onto grass. I glanced back at Rane. “Do you think Craynor could have found a place in Haven to keep Joshua?” “I don't know. Not much was left. There could have been a cellar or basement abandoned that didn't get struck. That's how I survived,” Rane admitted. It at least gave me hope. As we drove north, the rain stopped and the clouds parted. Cresting a hill, I slammed the brakes as we jolted to an abrupt halt. “What the hell?” Gavin's voice echoed as the seatbelt restrained him and his arm shot up on the dashboard to steady himself. A few feet away, I saw outlaws with weapons pointed in our direction. “Hurry up!” His voice threatened in my ear as I slammed on the gas, but our car wasn't going anywhere: the tires had blown from spikes in the road. Locking the doors hadn't helped. They busted the car window and flipped the lock, opening the door, dragging all three of us out.eBook Cover Title: Moirai (Aberrant 2) Author: Ruth Silver Published: September 26, 2013 by Patchwork Press & Lazy Day Publishing (eBook) Genre: Young Adult, Dystopian, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Romance Synopsis: Olivia has been on the run from the government of Cabal since the marriage ceremony.
