Book Description:
Gliding over the treacherous Green in a shaky aircraft that she has no idea how to land, Violet Bates is still in shock. The harrowing events of the previous night play over in her mind as she asks herself question after question.

Why did Lee Desmond Bertrand behave the way he did?

What is the truth about the mysterious silver egg stowed beneath her seat?

What happened to Viggo and where is her brother? Is either of them still alive?

When Violet manages to reach the toxic ground alive, she has landed in a world of unimaginable danger. She has barely time to catch her breath before she is sucked into a perilous journey at breakneck speed - to uncover secrets guarded for centuries and find the only two people that matter.

My Description:
Violet now fleeing from both Patrus and Matrus, decides to search for her brother. Still confused about what happened with Lee she ends up in the toxic forrest. This place is not only toxic, it is full of danger.
On his side, Viggo, sad and mad about Violet betrayal, is ordered to find her and bring her back to Patrus with the Egg that she stoled from them. Decided to do what he is being asked, he prepares himself for a long journey.

On the Matrus side, the new queen in place, ordered the same thing to the woman who as been teaching everything to Violet.

Will Violet be able to survive in the toxic grounds alone ? Will she ever find her brother ? Is he even still alive ? What will Viggo do when if finds her ?

My opinion:
Once again I really enjoy that book and I will read what's next very soon. I simply love Viggo who is an extraordinary guy. Violet is lucky to have him around.

Book Description:
A toxic river divides nineteen-year-old Violet Bates's world by gender.

Women rule the East. Men rule the West.

Welcome to the lands of Matrus and Patrus.

Ever since the disappearance of her beloved younger brother, Violet's life has been consumed by an anger she struggles to control. Already a prisoner to her own nation, now she has been sentenced to death for her crimes.

But one decision could save her life.

To enter the kingdom of Patrus, where men rule and women submit.

Everything about the patriarchy is dangerous for a rebellious girl like Violet. She cannot break the rules if she wishes to stay alive.

But abiding by rules has never been Violet's strong suit.

When she's thrust into more danger than she could have ever predicted, Violet is forced to sacrifice many things in the forbidden kingdom ... including forbidden love.

In a world divided by gender, only the strongest survive...

My description:
Violet is a citizen of Matrus. Matrus is where women rules and on the other side of the river, Patrus is where the men rules and where women just follow the order of the men.

Since the disappearance of her brother, Violet struggle to stay out of trouble. After two accidental kills, she thinks that her life will end soon. However at her own surprise, she gets a proposition from the Queen of Matrus herself. They need someone like Violet to go undercover in Patrus in order to retrieve something very important for Matrus.

A guy is already undercover on the other side and is now waiting for her to join him. There is only one way for a woman to being admit to Patrus, she has to get married!! In exchange for her help, the Queen promises Violet that she will be able to see her brother again if she acheive her mission successfully. Starting from there, nothing can stop her.

Once she reached the other side and is married to Lee, she learns more about the plan. They will have to steal something and will have to manage to make it looks like it was someone else's fault. This other person is Viggo a warden from Patrus. Violet will get to pass a lot of time with him in order to better know him and his schedule. While she hangs with him, she discovers that he is a lot like her and she starts to like him a lot. Will she be able to go through with her mission ? Will she be able to see her brother ?

My opinion:
I really liked that story and I already started to read the second book in the serie which has currently four books.

At first, I didn't know what to expect and I must admit that the beginning was a little slow to me but finally I enjoyed the story. This is a not a big thriller with a lot of action but still it's well written and easy to read.

I bought the audio book that goes along and really enjoyed it. Too sad that the audio book of the second book in the serie is not ready yet. Still I don't think I will wait, I'll start the book.
