Quatrième de couverture - Book Description :
Donate Body to Science. Check.

When seventeen-year-old Kaitlyn checked the box, she never suspected she’d have her life–and her body–stolen from her. She awakens one day in a secret laboratory to discover that her body is now half-robot and is forced to hide her own secret: that she still has human emotions and a human mind. If the scientists who made her find out, they’ll erase what remains of who she was.

Kaitlyn finds an unlikely ally in Lucas, a handsome, brilliant scientist who can’t get over the guilt he feels knowing she was once a vibrant, beautiful young woman. He never expected a science project to affect him the way she does. As he tries to help her rediscover her past, he finds himself falling for the brave girl struggling to find her place and acceptance between the human and computer worlds.

Mon résumé - My description :
Kaitlyn sign her card to donate her body to science when she will be dead. She didn't know that she would wake up in a the body of a half human, half-cyborg. She feels like they are trying to remove every part of humanity that is left in her. To make sure that it doesn't happen, she act like the perfect robot but deep inside, she still have feelings. She don't remember anything from her previous life.

The only person that knows about her secret is her only friend, Quess. She is the only one who discover her secret and the only one acting with her as if she was still a human. Quess is also helping her to understand things that she don't understand anymore like pain, sadness, teenage language, etc.. Quess is also trying to help Kaitlyn to remember things from her past.

Lucas, the scientist responsible of taking care that Kaitlyn is functional has feelings for Kaitlyn and so did she but they ignore this. More the end of the project arrives, more he feels sad and fears to lose her.

Will Lucas find out about Kaitlyn secret, will he help her? Will Kaitlyn discover information from her past life? What will she do if she knows where she was leaving before? What will happen at the end of the project? Is love possible between her and Lucas? You will discover in that awesome novel.

Mon avis - My opinion :
I heard about that book by Allison Potter the PA of the author Julia Crane. The first thing that caught my eye was the book cover. It is very beautiful. I bought the book on Kobo and start reading it immediately. I was caught very fast by the story. I found the main idea of the story very original and it was refreshing. By this time, in the young adult world, we mostly read story about paranormals, like vampires, werewolves etc.. but not in this book.

This book is book one of the IFICS serie which will be some kind of trilogy I assume (not sure about this). I can already predict that this will be a very good serie. Can't wait to see what's next.

Personnages - Characters :
Kaitlyn: Young women who, after she gave her body to science, was transformed to a half-human, half-robot. She still have feelings but make sure that nobody notice because she fear that they will remove everything left of her humanity. She just want to feel normal again, to interact with people.

Quess: A teenager who is staying at the facility for the summer helping her grandparents. She is the only friend of Kaitlyn and the only one to know her secret. She will try to discover the past life of Kaitlyn and will help her remember.

Lucas: He is the scientist who help "constructing" Kaitlyn new body. He is the genius behind that project. He is so involve and passionate of that project that he finds out that he has feeling for her. He wants to protect her.

Dr. Harrington: He is the one who put all his money in that project. It was his idea and he cherishes that project. He sees possibilities for the Army but will he be able to let her go?

Auteure - Author :
Julia crane is the author of the Coexist: Keegan’s Chronicles. She has a bachelors degree in criminal justice. Julia has believed in magical creatures since the day her grandmother first told her an Irish tale. Growing up her mother greatly encouraged reading and using your imagination. Although she’s spent most of her life on the US east coast, she currently lives in Dubai with her husband and three children.

That's the first book that I read from that author but it will certainly not be the last one. I am curious about that series Keegan's Chronicles and I will read the next books in the IFICS serie for sure. Her writing is easy to read for a French reading English like me. She makes short paragraphs which I really like and something cute in that book was the little robot at the end of each chapters.

Finally, I really recommend that book and I wouldn't be surprise to see movie based on that story in a couple of years.
